#TravelingBandJournal: Summer of 2010 - Our Tour Diaries

Mumbai & Pentagram: We finally play at the Hard Rock Cafe sharing the stage with the legendary Pentagram

We make no bones about it. We’ve been trying to play at Hard Rock Cafe for a while now. While we don’t really know why we hadn’t until now, it was a safe guess that they perhaps believed ‘Hindi’ rock was not ‘Hard’ enough.

Well, something’s changed, for we appear to have a slew of HRC dates. For a band that believes in universality of music, this is a re-affirmation of our faith.

It was a big day for us. We shared stage with Pentagram. While some may say that there appears to be no direct connect between our music and theirs, there is something that we (and probably every Indian band) owes to them. Fearlessness. Much has been said about what each Pentagram member does when they are not playing with the band, but quite frankly it scarcely matters when you’re about 6-inches off the ground on an average at any Pentagram gig. We bounced all over the room, even the intrepid Pavan Kumar who is known largely to nod appreciatively at classical concerts.

Vishal was there when we launched our album at Bonobo in Jan 2009. I remember him saying, ‘It’s great that this shit is happening’. And a little over a year later, we made a little more of the same great shit happen. With them. Sweet.
